People’s Fair Non-Profit Spotlight: StandUp For Kids-DenverPosted: May 31, 2011
Participating for the third year, StandUp For Kids – Denver will once again be exhibiting at the People’s Fair.
Executive Director of StandUp for Kids Denver, Elasha Fain, says “The People’s Fair is a signature Denver event! When we relaunched StandUp For Kids – Denver, we were excited to be a part of the community by participating in the People’s Fair.”
“We’ve met so many great people at the Fair. We have been able to connect with the community, many who have become great volunteers with us. We have connected with former street kids, have helped people connect their street family members to necessary resources, and have made connections with the community who serves homeless youth in Colorado,” Elasha said.
Though many memories have been made over the years, Elasha tells us one of their favorite experiences was with a 5-year-old boy who couldn’t wait to take advantage of the face painting at the StandUp for Kids booth.
“This little five-year old persistently and charmingly kept coming back to our booth for face painting. He would put his little head on our table and ask, “Are you doing face painting yet? I want to be the Green Goblin,” she said. “He beamed after he got his face painted and helped us fill and distribute balloons afterwards.”
Elasha said the People’s Fair gets better and better each year. “We love to connect with the community. We love Denver. StandUp For Kids volunteers enjoy supporting the street kids of Denver and connecting our community to this need as well.”
